Settlement Administrator
The third party hired to manage notice, process claims, and distribute payments in a class action settlement.
The settlement administrator is a third-party company hired by the parties (with court approval) to run the operational side of a settlement. They are not the lawyers and not the defendant. Their job is neutral logistics.
Administrators send notices to known class members by email and mail, set up the claim website, run a toll-free phone line, process incoming claims, verify documentation, calculate per-claimant amounts, and issue payments. They also publish status updates on the official settlement website.
Common US administrators include Angeion Group, Kroll Settlement Administration, Rust Consulting, JND Legal Administration, A.B. Data, and Epiq. If you receive a notice claiming to be from a settlement, look up the administrator on their corporate website to verify the case before submitting personal information.
The administrator's website (linked from court documents and credible third-party trackers like classaction.org) is the only authoritative source for current deadlines, claim forms, and payout schedules. Be cautious about email links, especially in known data-breach cases where attackers harvest the class list.
